ZaiNar Raises $100M for 'Physical AI'

ZaiNar has emerged from stealth with $100 million in funding and a valuation over $1 billion for its "Physical AI" platform. The technology uses wireless networks for real-time sensing to track assets and location. The platform aims to automate inventory, safety, and compliance for industries including logistics, retail, and real estate.

- The company's core innovation lies in achieving sub-nanosecond time synchronization across wireless networks, which is about a thousand times more accurate than conventional methods and allows for sub-meter positioning accuracy. This patented technology transforms existing 5G and WiFi infrastructure into a sensing system without needing new hardware, satellites, or cameras. - ZaiNar operated in stealth for nine years before its public launch and was co-founded by CEO Daniel Jacker and CTO Philip Kratz. - The venture is backed by prominent figures from the tech industry, including Steve Jurvetson of SpaceX, Jerry Yang, co-founder of Yahoo!, Tom Gruber, co-founder of Siri, and Jaan Tallinn, a founding engineer of Skype. - ZaiNar's intellectual property portfolio is extensive, with over 100 patents filed and 90 issued, covering its phase-based time synchronization and positioning technology. - The company reports significant commercial traction, having already secured more than $450 million in contracts and memoranda of understanding. Its technology is commercially deployed in industries such as healthcare, construction, and for smart city applications. - The platform functions by analyzing radio signals already being emitted by devices, using its own mesh network to calculate the location from which the signals originated. This process occurs on the network side, meaning no hardware modifications or additional battery drain are required for the devices being tracked.
