Gemini Goes Ambient
Google is pushing Gemini beyond reactive chat into proactive workflow features, reportedly testing a 'Your Day' feed that aggregates signals across apps. (9to5google.com) The product is also getting technical upgrades—Gemini now supports interactive 3D models and simulations inside chat and Google is offering early access to a Gemini 2.5 Pro preview for developers. Google is testing a Gemini feature called “Your Day” that would turn the assistant into a proactive feed instead of a box that waits for prompts. (9to5google.com) The feature surfaced in beta version 17.14 of the Google app, where code strings say users can “Receive a proactive feed from Gemini to stay ahead of your day.” The same teardown says the toggle would live under Profile menu > Personal Intelligence. (9to5google.com) A proactive feed is software that gathers signals before you ask, like a dashboard that pulls together appointments, reminders, and context from other apps. Google has already been moving Gemini in that direction with “Personal Intelligence,” a beta launched on January 14, 2026 that lets Gemini use Gmail and other Google app data to personalize answers. (9to5google.com) Google is also adding richer outputs inside the chat itself. On April 9, 2026, the company said the Gemini app can now generate interactive simulations, 3D models, graphs, and charts directly in a conversation instead of replying only with text and static diagrams. (blog.google) Google said those visuals can be manipulated in chat, with examples including a 3D model of Stonehenge, a simulation of ocean currents, and charts that respond to follow-up questions. The company said the feature is rolling out first to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers. (blog.google) For developers, Google’s current flagship reasoning model is Gemini 2.5 Pro, which the Google AI for Developers documentation describes as a model for complex problems in code, math, science, large datasets, and long documents. The Gemini API changelog also shows Google has been updating usage tiers and billing controls in March 2026 as it pushes the model deeper into production use. (ai.google.dev 1) (ai.google.dev 2) Google has been broadening where Gemini appears across its products, not just in the standalone app. 9to5Google reported on April 8, 2026 that Gemini for Home was expanding to more than a dozen countries as Google continued replacing Google Assistant in the smart home. (9to5google.com) That puts “Your Day” in a longer Google pattern. Google Now and Assistant Snapshot both tried to predict what users needed next, and Gemini now appears to be reviving that idea with newer models, tighter app access, and more visual answers inside the same interface.
