Viral Singapore Peranakan Stall Expands

Singapore's viral Peranakan food stall Nya Nya opened a new outlet at the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. The stall is known for its unique blend of tradition and modern flair, though only one of its famous "hunky brothers" will be working at the new location.

Nya Nya is a modern spin-off of the beloved Nonya Delicatessen, a Peranakan food kiosk that has been operating at Bukit Timah Plaza since 1980. The family's culinary roots trace back three generations to grandmother Lilian Tan, whose Melaka-rooted Peranakan recipes form the foundation of the menu. The original stall at Wisma Atria's Food Republic gained significant attention after an 8days.sg feature on the family's "hunky brothers," Daryl Lim, 27, and Damian Lim, 21, who help run the business. This led to long queues for their home-style Peranakan dishes, which are based on decades-old family recipes. The new Mandai outlet, named Nya Nya Nonya Laksa, is a smaller offshoot located within the Food Republic near the Singapore Zoo. It will be managed solely by the younger brother, Damian, a recent Ngee Ann Polytechnic graduate, before he enlists for National Service. Due to its smaller size, the Mandai menu is more focused than the Wisma Atria location. It will primarily feature Nonya Laksa, priced at S$8.90, alongside desserts like Sago Gula Melaka and various kueh. This compares to the S$6.90 price for the same laksa at the original outlet.
