Cognizant and Google Cloud Expand AI Partnership

Cognizant has announced an expanded strategic partnership with Google Cloud focused on operationalizing agentic AI for enterprise clients. The collaboration aims to help businesses deploy and govern large-scale AI systems. This partnership reflects a broader industry trend of moving from AI strategy to practical, scaled implementation.

- The expanded partnership is part of a larger strategy by Cognizant, which has committed to investing $1 billion in generative AI over three years. As part of this, the company is training over 70,000 of its associates on Google Cloud's AI offerings to accelerate software development and client solutions. - The collaboration centers on Google's Gemini Enterprise, an agentic AI platform that allows developers to build and orchestrate AI agents capable of automating complex, multi-step workflows by connecting foundation models to a company's internal data sources. - This partnership builds on a collaboration that began in May 2023 and was previously expanded to create large language model solutions for the healthcare industry. Cognizant is establishing Gemini Studios in its Cloud AI Innovation hubs in Bangalore, London, and Plano, Texas, to help enterprise customers develop and scale these AI solutions. - Relevant to autonomous systems, Cognizant has a dedicated AI Training Data Services unit with over 10,000 specialists who have experience annotating billions of data points from multi-modal sources, including imagery, video, and LiDAR, for industries like automotive. - This is not an exclusive relationship for Cognizant, which positions itself as an "AI builder" that is platform-agnostic. The company also has a major partnership with AI firm Anthropic to provide its Claude large language model to up to 350,000 Cognizant employees to accelerate client work. - Cognizant's broader strategy also involves strengthening its capabilities on competing cloud platforms. In January 2026, the company completed its acquisition of 3Cloud, a major Microsoft Azure services provider, adding approximately 1,200 employees and over 1,500 Microsoft certifications to its team
