Yamaha Relocating HQ to Georgia
After 50 years in California, Yamaha is relocating its headquarters to Georgia, citing "structural reforms" amid a trend of firms fleeing blue states.
The relocation, set to occur between late 2026 and the end of 2028, is part of Yamaha's "structural reforms" to boost profitability amidst rising costs and changing market conditions. Yamaha has already moved its marine and motorsports divisions to Kennesaw in previous years. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has welcomed Yamaha's decision, highlighting Georgia's business-friendly environment. He noted that Yamaha already employs over 2,300 Georgians across various facilities, including a large factory in Newnan. Yamaha's departure will impact approximately 250 corporate and financial services employees and Orange County could lose millions in tax revenue. The company will be selling its 25-acre Cypress property as part of the move. The move reflects a broader trend of companies leaving California, citing high taxes, strict regulations, and rising costs. Other companies that have left California include Tesla, In-N-Out, and Chevron.
