Tom Misch Returns After Burnout
Tom Misch is back with a new album "Full Circle" after battling fame burnout and spending time away from music working as a barista. In a Guardian interview, he discusses his journey, creative process, and collaborating with his sisters on the record.
- His previous full-length solo studio album, "Geography," was released in 2018 and peaked at number 8 on the UK Albums Chart. His 2020 collaboration with Yussef Dayes, "What Kinda Music," reached number 4. - During his time away from the music industry, Misch explored various jobs, including gardening and working as a barista, and has expressed interest in a part-time job with Royal Mail for more structure. - In July 2022, he canceled an upcoming tour in Australia due to worsening mental health and anxiety, marking the start of his hiatus. - Throughout his break, he co-founded the Wildflower music workshops with producer Isaac Whatmore to provide a space for established artists to share their creative processes. - The new album, "Full Circle," was recorded to tape across various locations, including London, Cornwall, Portugal, and Nashville, aiming for the warmth of 1970s hi-fi records. - Collaborators on "Full Circle" include songwriter Matt Maltese, producer Ian Fitchuk, and engineer Adam Jaffrey. - Misch also has another electronic music project under the alias Supershy, with the album "Happy Music" released in 2023. - He is also reportedly working on a new album with Brazilian musician Marcos Valle.
