Star Wars: Starfighter Movie Announced

*Star Wars: Starfighter* is being helmed by director Shawn Levy, known for his work on *Deadpool & Wolverine* and *The Adam Project*. The script is penned by Jonathan Tropper, who previously collaborated with Levy. The film is positioned as a standalone adventure, separate from the main Skywalker Saga. The story is set approximately five years after the events of *Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker*, pushing the cinematic timeline further than any previous film or show. While plot details are scarce, it reportedly involves a starfighter pilot played by Ryan Gosling attempting to rescue a character played by Flynn Gray from antagonists portrayed by Matt Smith and Mia Goth. Amy Adams has also been cast in the film. This film marks a continued effort by Lucasfilm to explore new periods and characters within the Star Wars universe. Unlike stories deeply rooted in Jedi and Sith lore, *Starfighter* may focus more on the pilots and space combat that have been a cornerstone of the franchise since the original 1977 film's trench run. *Starfighter* will be the second film in Lucasfilm's return to theaters, following *The Mandalorian & Grogu*, which is slated for May 22, 2026.
