AI-Native Venture Firm YVL Capital Launches in Dubai

YVL Capital Partners, an AI-native venture capital firm and studio, has officially launched in Dubai. The firm aims to launch and invest in category-defining companies with a focus on artificial intelligence, leveraging global ecosystem alliances from its base in the UAE.

- YVL Capital is a $50 million hybrid venture fund and studio targeting 28 to 38 pre-seed to Series A companies. The fund will have a dual geographic mandate, with 50% of capital allocated to the MENA region and 50% to global markets. - The firm's leadership includes CEO & Managing Partner Matthew Buckingham, who previously secured over $75 million in sovereign contracts in the UAE and Qatar. Other partners include serial entrepreneurs Rabih Sebaaly and Andrea Doyon, and finance veteran Tommy Baltzis, CFA, CPA. - YVL's core investment thesis targets AI-native companies that control mission-critical processes in industries like food production, water treatment, healthcare, and energy. - A key part of their model is providing portfolio companies with access to Nexa Staff, a 24/7 AI workforce designed to support growth and operations. YVL claims this can reduce early-stage operational burn by 40-50%. - The firm will also operate a venture studio, which has secured a partnership with a regional hyperscale cloud provider that includes a minimum of $100,000 in cloud credits for each studio company. - Prior to its official launch, YVL's founders engaged with investors and policymakers at the World Economic Forum in Davos and connected with founders at STEP Dubai, one of the largest tech festivals in the Middle East. - The firm has already established a collaboration with Ignyte, a global start-up ecosystem by the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), to mentor and train new companies.
