Teyana Taylor Named Time Woman

Teyana Taylor was named one of Time Magazine's Women of the Year for 2026, joining an elite group of 16 influential women. This honor caps a period of high visibility for Taylor, who remains a cultural touchstone even after stepping away from music.

This recognition follows a significant year for Taylor, who also earned her first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Perfidia Beverly Hills in "One Battle After Another". Her performance in the film previously secured her a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. Taylor's recent work extends beyond acting, with a 2025 Grammy nomination for her R&B album "Escape Room". This came after she announced a temporary retirement from music in 2020, citing a desire to explore other creative avenues. In addition to her personal artistic pursuits, Taylor is the co-founder of the all-female production company, The Aunties. The company provides a full range of creative services, including video direction, and has worked with artists like Summer Walker and Lil Baby. In 2021, Taylor announced the development of a 5-acre lot to house Aunties 360, a comprehensive production studio. The Harlem-born artist's influence also extends to fashion, where she was named the host of the 2025 CFDA Awards. She is slated to make her feature film directorial debut with "Get Lite," starring Storm Reid. Taylor joins a diverse group of 15 other women on Time's 2026 list, including actor Lucy Liu, filmmaker ChloƩ Zhao, and Olympic champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. The list recognizes leaders who are working to create a more equitable world.
