Ease Health Raises $41M from a16z

Behavioral health platform Ease Health has emerged from stealth with a $41M Series A led by a16z. The startup is building an AI-native operating system to unify the fragmented tools used by mental health providers.

Ease Health's platform integrates once-separate systems for customer relationship management (CRM), electronic health records (EHR), and revenue cycle management (RCM) into a single OS. This consolidation is designed to eliminate the need for providers to switch between multiple, often legacy, software tools, a common issue that leads to administrative overhead and inefficiencies. The company was co-founded by CEO Zach Cohen and President Steve Gold. Gold previously founded and led Refresh Mental Health, which was acquired by UnitedHealth Group's Optum in 2022. Ease Health's AI-native approach aims to automate tasks like clinical documentation, patient intake, and billing workflows, which are trained on millions of behavioral health claims to improve accuracy. The platform is built to serve a wide range of behavioral health organizations, from small practices to large multi-location provider groups across various levels of care. This includes outpatient, intensive outpatient, residential treatment, and inpatient psychiatry settings. Early results indicate the system can lead to 60-70% faster documentation and reduce labor costs for intake and admissions teams by 50%. The investment from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) was led by General Partner Daisy Wolf. She noted that while demand for behavioral health is accelerating, providers are often held back by software not designed for their specific needs. The funding is intended to help Ease Health expand its product and engineering teams and accelerate adoption among enterprise-level providers.
