London–Bengaluru boost
British Airways is adding a second daily London–Bengaluru flight and increasing frequencies on key routes while some international routes — notably Paris, Milan and parts of the Caribbean — are seeing aggressive discounting in recent promos (thetraveler.org). The coverage frames these moves as route-specific capacity and pricing changes rather than broad, across-the-board cuts (thetraveler.org).
British Airways will run two London Heathrow–Bengaluru flights a day from June 1 to October 24, 2026, doubling the route to 14 weekly services. (thehindu.com) The added Bengaluru service is part of a wider India push for summer 2026. The Hindu reported British Airways is adding more than 7,000 weekly seats across India-United Kingdom routes, while Hyderabad gets a larger Boeing 777 in place of a Boeing 787, adding 68 seats per flight. (thehindu.com) Schedule filings tracked by AeroRoutes show the Bengaluru increase starts June 1. They also show aircraft changes on the route, with the existing daily service shifting from a Boeing 777-200ER to a Boeing 787-8 on many dates and the added flight also using Boeing 787 aircraft on selected days. (aeroroutes.com) British Airways is making the change as it reshuffles capacity across its network rather than adding flights everywhere. The airline has also cut or delayed some Middle East flying for summer 2026, including reduced service to Dubai, Doha and Riyadh and a later return to Abu Dhabi. (travelmole.com) That helps explain why Bengaluru is getting extra lift now. Kempegowda International Airport handled 43.82 million passengers in 2025, up 8% from a year earlier, with international departures rising 28.7%, according to airport operator figures reported in January. (travel.economictimes.indiatimes.com) Competition on India–Heathrow routes has also intensified. IndiGo launched long-haul Heathrow service in late 2025, and aviation consultancy IBA said five airlines were serving Heathrow–Mumbai over the winter as Indian carriers pushed further into Europe and the United Kingdom market. (iba.aero) British Airways’ parent group said in its 2025 annual report that the airline is still rebuilding parts of its long-haul network while investing in fleet renewal and operational resilience. That makes route-level moves like Bengaluru more notable than a blanket expansion across the map. (iairgroup.com) The discounts showing up on some other international routes point in the same direction: British Airways is adjusting supply and pricing market by market. On Bengaluru, the signal is the opposite of a sale — more seats, more frequencies and a bigger bet on India this summer. (thetraveler.org)
