Delhi Housing Sales Surge

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) reports a 340% surge in housing sales over four years, generating ₹10,400 crore in revenue.

The DDA attributes this surge to policy reforms, a shift to digital processes, and a first-come, first-served allotment model. This replaced the traditional lottery system, ensuring a fairer process for buyers. The increased sales have significantly boosted the DDA's revenue, reaching ₹10,446 crore between 2022-23 and 2025-26. This marks a 152.90% increase compared to the ₹4,130 crore generated between 2018-19 and 2021-22. The increased revenue strengthens DDA's ability to fund new development projects and improve urban infrastructure. Several policy changes contributed to this growth, including removing restrictions on property owners and allowing flat selection before purchase. The DDA also implemented measures to discourage speculative buyers, such as charging a token amount for applications. The DDA's success reverses a decade-long trend of annual deficits, with a surplus of ₹511 crore in FY 2023-24. This was followed by ₹1,672 crore in FY 2024-25 and over ₹2,083 crore in FY 2025-26.
