SF's Lyceum AI Acquired by Perceptyx
San Francisco-based Lyceum AI, an AI learning platform, has been acquired by Perceptyx less than two years after its founding. The rapid exit highlights the strong M&A appetite for applied AI startups that achieve product-market fit in enterprise verticals.
Lyceum AI's core offering is an AI-native learning agent named "Ellie." This technology transforms static corporate training materials into personalized, conversational learning experiences. Instead of just tracking course completion, Ellie assesses a user's comprehension and skill development, aiming to verify that learning has occurred. The acquisition by Perceptyx, a company focused on employee experience and people analytics, aims to bridge the gap between understanding workforce needs and actively developing employee skills. The goal is to create a single platform that can identify areas for improvement through employee feedback and then deliver targeted, personalized training to address those areas. The move reflects a larger trend in the HR technology industry to connect employee experience, learning, and performance management. Companies are increasingly looking for integrated solutions that can provide data-driven insights and then facilitate action to improve both employee satisfaction and business outcomes. The rapid adoption of AI is accelerating this shift, creating a demand for tools that can deliver personalized development at scale. Lyceum AI was founded by Glenn Platt, Russell Hamer, and Sumit Gupta. Platt, the CEO of Lyceum AI, has a background in digital marketing, technology, and academia, including founding the Interactive Media program at Miami University. Perceptyx CEO Ross Wainwright highlighted that the combination of Perceptyx's employee listening capabilities with Lyceum's AI-driven learning creates a continuous loop of feedback, development, and measurable behavior change.
