New Thai restaurant Miko Mei Fair to open in Mayfair
Samyukta Nair, a prominent London restaurateur, will launch a new Thai restaurant named Miko Mei Fair in May. Located in Mayfair, the kitchen will be led by Soonthorn Apaipat, the former head chef of Koyn Thai.
- Miko Mei Fair is the sixth Mayfair establishment from LSL Capital, the restaurant group co-founded by Samyukta Nair and her father, Dinesh Nair, who hail from the founding family of The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts. - The new restaurant is described as a "lovechild" of two of Nair's other concepts: it will be housed in the same Georgian townhouse as her Chinese restaurant, MiMi Mei Fair, and inherits the culinary legacy of the now-closed Koyn Thai. - The 50-cover restaurant will be located on the ground floor of 55 Curzon Street, a building that also houses MiMi Mei Fair, and will share a private dining space called 'The Peacock Room' for up to eight guests. - The menu will center on fire-led cooking using a robata-style grill and will include signature dishes from the former Koyn Thai, such as lamb massaman curry and yellow crab curry, alongside new creations. - LSL Capital's previous Mayfair restaurant, Koyn, which included the Koyn Thai concept in its basement, closed in September after three years of operation. - The interior design will feature teal and timber paneling, red leather seating, warm brass accents, and gold leaf lotus motifs. - The cocktail menu will focus on tropical fruits and spices, with drinks like the Sabai Sabai, a mix of Mekong rum, kaffir lime, and Thai basil.
