Downtown Fremont will host a makerspace and artists’ pop-up market on Sunday, April 26, bringing local art sales and hands-on activities to the Event Center and Plaza. (tricityvoice.com) The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fremont Downtown Event Center and Plaza, 3500 Capitol Ave., and the City of Fremont calendar lists it as a community event. (fremont.gov) Fremont Creates said more than 20 local artists will sell work directly to the public, while the returning makerspace is aimed at “kids of all ages.” The April 14 announcement also said two adult art workshops for ages 15 and up are new this year. (tricityvoice.com) The market is part of Fremont’s April is Arts, Culture and Creativity Month, a citywide arts push that Fremont Creates uses to cluster events across April. Fremont Creates’ event page says the April 26 market is intended to wrap up that monthlong program. (fremontcreates.com) That monthlong framing has been building for weeks. Earlier April coverage from Tri-City Voice described the April 26 event as a one-day visual arts showcase tied to the broader Fremont Creates calendar. (tricityvoice.com) Organizers are also adding live performance to the market. Tri-City Voice reported that live jazz will play during the event and Wadaiko Newark taiko drummers will perform outdoors. (tricityvoice.com) Fremont Creates has pitched the event as both a public market and a participation space. Its event listing says local artists were invited to display and sell their pieces, while visitors can also join the adult workshops rather than only browse booths. (fremontcreates.com) The April 26 market follows another downtown arts event the same weekend. Tri-City Voice reported that the city’s first free “Downtown Dance” event is set for Saturday, April 25, at the same venue. (tricityvoice.com) For Fremont, the last weekend of April is shaping up as a two-day downtown arts push: dance on Saturday, then art sales, workshops and makerspace activities on Sunday.
