AWS opens Bedrock preview to Fortune 500s, offering OpenAI models, Codex and stateful agents

Amazon Web Services on April 28 opened a limited preview that brings OpenAI models, Codex, and Bedrock Managed Agents into Amazon Bedrock. The new preview lets customers call OpenAI systems from that same AWS layer. OpenAI said companies with AWS commitments and Bedrock access can start using Codex through AWS billing, while Amazon said customers keep the security, governance, and operational controls they already use in AWS. Amazon says each agent runs with its own identity, logs actions for auditability, and runs inside the customer’s environment. (aws.amazon.com) That agent push started before this week’s launch. On February 27, OpenAI and Amazon said they would co-create a Stateful Runtime Environment for Agents in Bedrock, with persistent orchestration, memory, secure execution, and governance for multi-step workflows. OpenAI said AWS would be the exclusive third-party cloud distribution provider for OpenAI Frontier, and Amazon said it would invest $50 billion in OpenAI. It also gives AWS a direct channel for selling OpenAI capabilities to customers that want Amazon identity, logging, and billing wrapped around them.
