TruckSmarter has added FreightWaves SONAR rate data to Dispatch, its chat-based freight tool for owner-operators and small carriers. (trucksmarter.com) (finance.yahoo.com) The integration brings SONAR’s TRAC spot rates into Dispatch, so drivers can see lane pricing benchmarks inside the same chat where they search loads and decide whether to book. (trucksmarter.com) (gosonar.com) Dispatch is TruckSmarter’s newer product: a paid, artificial-intelligence assistant that lets users ask for loads in plain language, verify details, contact brokers and place bids. TruckSmarter says the service is free for 30 days and then costs $49 a month. (trucksmarter.com 1) (trucksmarter.com 2) SONAR is FreightWaves’ market-intelligence platform, used by brokers and shippers to track spot and contract rates, tender volumes and capacity shifts. FreightWaves has described TRAC as spot-rate data built from broker and invoice inputs. (freightwaves.com 1) (freightwaves.com 2) TruckSmarter framed the change as a way to give small carriers the same market read that larger intermediaries already use in negotiations. Its blog said drivers can ask Dispatch rate questions and get answers backed by live market data. (trucksmarter.com) SONAR chief executive Craig Fuller said in the announcement that freight markets work better when participants share access to the same quality of information. TruckSmarter said the goal is to reduce decisions based only on instinct or stale rate checks. (gosonar.com) (trucksmarter.com) The move also puts SONAR data inside a workflow product rather than a separate analytics screen. FreightWaves made a similar software-distribution move in 2023, when Loadsmart embedded SONAR data into its ShipperGuide transportation management system. (freightwaves.com) TruckSmarter has been expanding beyond its free load board into dispatching and automation. The company raised a $25 million Series B in 2022, and FreightWaves reported in late 2025 that OTR Solutions acquired TruckSmarter’s factoring business. (freightwaves.com) (forum.freightwaves.com) For drivers using Dispatch, the immediate change is simple: rate intelligence now shows up in the conversation where they already search, call, bid and book.
