Quantum Computing Firm Infleqtion Goes Public
Quantum technology company Infleqtion celebrated its IPO under the ticker $INFQ. The company develops room-temperature, pocket-sized quantum cores for applications such as gravity-sensing satellites and secure financial infrastructure. Infleqtion's technology has been operational in space since 2018 aboard the International Space Station's Cold Atom Lab.
- The company went public by merging with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), Churchill Capital Corp X, in a deal that generated over $550 million in gross proceeds. The transaction gave Infleqtion a market capitalization of approximately $2.74 billion upon its debut. - Infleqtion holds several key government contracts, including a $20 million mission with NASA to build the world's first quantum gravity sensor for space, a $2 million contract with the U.S. Army for resilient navigation technology, and a $6.2 million project with the Department of Energy for energy grid optimization. - The company's CEO is Matthew Kinsella, a former senior managing director at Maverick Ventures who led the venture capital firm's initial investment in Infleqtion and joined its board in 2018. - Prior to its 2022 rebrand, the company was known as ColdQuanta, founded in 2007 based on atomic physics research from the University of Colorado Boulder. - As of June 30, 2025, Infleqtion had generated approximately $29 million in trailing twelve-month revenue from the sale of its quantum systems. - Infleqtion is also partnering with Voyager Technologies to deploy other quantum technologies in orbit, including integrating its "Tiqker" atomic clock aboard the International Space Station and the future Starlab commercial space station. - The company faces competition from other players in the quantum space, including Quantinuum, IonQ, and Rigetti Computing.
