Netflix Chef Opens Tribeca Restaurant
Chef London Chase, a former contestant on Netflix's "Next Gen Chef," is opening a new restaurant called Seventy Seven Alley in Tribeca. Located in the Walker Hotel, its menu will be chef-driven and inspired by the neighborhood's vibrant art gallery culture.
Chef London Chase, who was a junior sous chef at Essential by Christophe when he competed on "Next Gen Chef," brings a global perspective to his modern culinary style. Born in French Guiana and raised in London, his career includes time in demanding kitchens like Le Gavroche in London and Orsa & Winston in Los Angeles. Seventy Seven Alley, opening March 6, is designed to feel more like a creative studio than a traditional restaurant, mirroring Tribeca's gallery culture. The dining room will even function as a revolving gallery, launching with artwork by Chef Chase himself. The restaurant's menu is structured around elemental taste profiles—heat, acid, salt, depth, and fat—to create layered, contrast-driven dishes. Signature items will include Viking Village Scallop with pickled napa cabbage and a subtle influence of a binchotan grill will be used on proteins and vegetables. Guests can opt for à la carte dining or an immersive eight-seat Chef's Counter for a tasting menu experience. The intimate space, located on the historic Cortlandt Alley, features low lighting, drapery, and Art Deco cues to create a focused, studio-like environment. The Walker Hotel Tribeca, where Seventy Seven Alley is located, also houses the Argentine-inspired Mostrador, a rooftop lounge, and the subterranean cocktail bar Saint Tuesday, which features live music nightly. Chase is not the only chef from a streaming show to launch a high-profile restaurant. Gordon Ramsay, featured in the Netflix documentary "Being Gordon Ramsay," recently opened multiple restaurants at the 22 Bishopsgate development in London, one of which has already earned a Michelin star.
