Acne Studios Casts Robyn for SS26 Campaign
Acne Studios has cast Swedish musician Robyn as the face of its Spring/Summer 2026 campaign. The campaign imagery features the artist styled as a Rockabilly icon, continuing the brand's tradition of collaborating with influential cultural figures.
The collaboration is a natural fit, rooted in a long-standing relationship between Robyn and Acne Studios' creative director, Jonny Johansson. Both being Swedish icons, they have orbited each other's creative worlds for years, with Robyn even creating the soundtrack for the brand's Spring/Summer 2026 runway show in Paris. Johansson has expressed his admiration for artists who create their own worlds, a quality he attributes to Robyn. For the SS26 campaign, the creative team, including stylist Tamara Rothstein and creative director Mel Ottenberg, transformed the musician into a Rockabilly-inspired figure. The imagery features Robyn with a pompadour hairstyle, wearing a wide, light-blue uniform shirt and high-waisted jeans, a look she described as projecting both "vulnerability and toughness". This aesthetic draws from the rebellious spirit of the 1950s subculture, which fused country and rhythm and blues, and was characterized by leather jackets, denim, and distinctive hairstyles. Acne Studios has a history of tapping into the cultural zeitgeist through its campaign faces. Previous collaborations have included figures like K-pop group ILLIT for Spring/Summer 2024 and musician Charli XCX for the Spring/Summer 2025 campaign. This strategy aligns with the brand's origins as a multidisciplinary creative collective, which has always blended fashion with art, music, and photography. Robyn's own style has always defied easy categorization, evolving from a 90s R&B-inflected pop look to a more fluid and avant-garde aesthetic. She has a history of collaborating with fashion brands, including a unisex sportswear collection with fellow Swedish brand Björn Borg and tour merchandise with Opening Ceremony. Her personal style often plays with androgyny and comfort, making the Rockabilly "drag" for the Acne campaign another chapter in her sartorial evolution.
