Wrangler Finally Fixed Rollover Issue
The 2026 Jeep Wrangler has finally passed the IIHS small overlap crash test, addressing its long-standing rollover risk with frame rail modifications [https://www.guideautoweb.com/en/articles/81347/jeep-has-finally-fixed-the-wrangler-s-rollover-issue/].
The updated frame rail design is applied to 2026 Wranglers built after October 2025. This modification helped the vehicle remain upright during the driver-side small overlap test. The IIHS noted that the 2026 Wrangler "provides robust protection overall". However, there remains a high risk of injury to the front passenger's right foot and lower leg in the passenger-side small overlap test. The small overlap front test simulates a collision with another vehicle or an object like a tree at 40 mph, impacting 25% of the vehicle's front end. The test is conducted on both the driver and passenger sides. Previous tests of the Wrangler in 2019 and 2022 showed a tendency to tip over onto its side. The IIHS considered this an unacceptable outcome, increasing the risk of occupant ejection, especially concerning the Wrangler's removable roof and doors.
