Fremont High School Orchestra Earns Top Honors

The orchestra from Fremont Ross High School has earned a Superior Plaque, the highest possible rating, at the OMEA State Orchestra Adjudicated Event. The achievement marks a significant accomplishment for the student musicians and the school's music program.

The "Superior" rating awarded to the Fremont Ross High School Orchestra at the OMEA State Orchestra Adjudicated Event represents the highest honor in a five-tier adjudication system. This top-tier "I" rating signifies a performance deemed outstanding, with minimal technical errors and a genuinely musical expression. The achievement is a testament to the dedication of the student musicians under the direction of Elizabeth Hamer. In a 2024 interview, Hamer, then in her eighth year leading the orchestra, spoke of the rigorous preparation students undertake for such competitions, aiming for a level of excellence they may not have known they possessed. This recent success for the orchestra is part of a broader pattern of high achievement within the Fremont Ross High School music program. In November 2025, the "Ross Band of Class" marching band also earned a Superior rating at the OMEA State Finals. Further demonstrating the program's strength, all of the school's ensembles that participated in the OMEA solo and ensemble contest in February 2026 received Superior ratings. This consistent level of excellence across different musical disciplines highlights the quality of music education at the school.
