Lucid Group said April 14 that Silvio Napoli, the former head of Schindler, will become chief executive and join the board. (lucidmotors.com) The company said interim chief executive Marc Winterhoff will move into the chief operating officer job when Napoli takes over. Lucid said Napoli is based in Switzerland and will relocate to the United States. (sec.gov) Napoli ran Schindler, the Swiss elevator and escalator maker, until early 2025 after decades inside the company. Schindler said in January 2025 that Paolo Compagna would succeed him as chief executive and that Napoli would not stand for re-election as chairman. (schindler.com) Lucid is making the change after more than a year without a permanent chief executive. Founder Peter Rawlinson stepped down as chief executive and chief technology officer on February 21, 2025, and became a strategic technical adviser to the board chairman. (sec.gov) The job in front of Napoli is a manufacturing job as much as a car-design job. Lucid delivered 15,841 vehicles in 2025 and told investors in February that it expects to produce 25,000 to 27,000 vehicles in 2026. (ir.lucidmotors.com) Lucid’s lineup is also getting broader. The company began commercial production and deliveries of the Gravity sport utility vehicle in December 2024, adding a second model to the Air sedan. (sec.gov) The production push is already underway. Lucid said on April 3 that it produced 2,212 vehicles and delivered 3,109 in the first quarter of 2026, and it set May 5 for its first-quarter earnings call. (ir.lucidmotors.com) Lucid is also trying to build businesses beyond retail car sales. The company said its robotaxi partnership with Uber and Nuro is meant to put more than 20,000 Lucid Gravity vehicles on Uber over six years, starting in 2026. (lucidmotors.com) Investors treated the appointment as an operations bet. Reuters reported Lucid shares rose more than 4% in premarket trading after the announcement. (reuters.com) Lucid said Napoli will lead the next phase of scaling Air and Gravity production while the company works toward positive free cash flow and profitability. The first detailed test of that plan is scheduled for May 5, when Lucid reports first-quarter results. (prnewswire.com)
