Fitness Never Too Late

A 50-year study shows it's never too late to improve fitness, as strength and cardiovascular health declines aren't inevitable with age [https://theepochtimes.com/health/researchers-pinpoint-when-fitness-starts-to-decline-5980721].

The Swedish Physical Activity and Fitness study (SPAF) tracked hundreds of individuals born in 1958 over 47 years, assessing their aerobic capacity, muscular endurance, power, and physical performance. The study revealed that peak physical performance is generally reached before the age of 35. Even though physical decline may begin in the mid-30s, the study showed that becoming physically active as an adult can still improve performance by 5-10%. This underscores that it's beneficial to start moving at any point in life. Researchers at the Karolinska Institutet, who conducted the study, plan to continue tracking participants to understand the mechanisms behind peak performance at age 35 and how physical activity can slow down performance loss. They aim to link changes in physical capacity to lifestyle, health, and biological factors.
