Influencer access frays

Creators on YouTube are reporting an influencer‑access shakeup at Coachella—videos posted in the last 48 hours claim some influencers were ‘uninvited’ and flagged widespread Airbnb and ticketing drama during the festival weekend. ( ) The coverage frames those logistical breakdowns as part of a larger conversation about who gets on the guest lists and how weekend accommodations are being managed. (youtube.com)

Coachella’s first weekend opened with a side fight over access, as creators posted that invitations vanished and housing plans fell apart days before the gates did. (coachella.com; tmz.com) The 2026 festival is scheduled for April 10-12 and April 17-19 in Indio, California, and The Hollywood Reporter said as many as 125,000 people were expected each day of opening weekend. The outlet reported that social feeds were already filled with complaints before the first day’s performances. (coachella.com; hollywoodreporter.com) TMZ reported on April 10 that TikTok creator Tiahra Nelson, who has 4.7 million followers on the platform, said her ticket was pulled shortly before the festival. The same report said creator Yazmin Marziali, who has more than 280,000 TikTok followers, said a brand trip was canceled two days before she was due to arrive. (tmz.com) Housing complaints spread at the same time. KTLA reported on April 10 that festivalgoers on TikTok and Instagram said Airbnb reservations booked months earlier were canceled and, in some cases, relisted at higher prices just before the weekend. (ktla.com) The Hollywood Reporter cited creator Sophie Rain, who has 15 million TikTok followers, saying her Airbnb booking was canceled three days before the event after she had paid $29,000, and that she then rebooked for $83,375. That account was one of several creator posts that turned lodging problems into part of the festival’s online story. (hollywoodreporter.com) Airbnb disputed the idea of a broad breakdown. In a statement quoted by KTLA, a company spokesperson said Airbnb was “not seeing any notable uptick in cancellations over Coachella weekends” and said it had contacted a small number of guests who raised concerns online. (ktla.com) Ticket pressure added to the scramble. Coachella’s official site says 2026 passes are sold out, warns buyers not to use third-party scalpers, and says the waitlist uses dynamic pricing with a $20 deposit per item type and no guarantee of fulfillment. (coachella.com; coachella.com; coachella.com) By festival weekend, Coachella’s resale page said resale was no longer available, closing off one official route for late buyers. The same page says AXS Official Resale passes are authenticated when listed, but unsold festival-pass listings expire at 10 a.m. on the first day of each weekend. (coachella.com) Airbnb’s own policy also draws a narrow line for refunds in major disruptions. Its help center says large-scale events can trigger refunds only when they prevent or legally prohibit a stay, not simply because demand surges around a foreseeable event. (airbnb.com) That left Coachella weekend with two overlapping bottlenecks: guest-list status controlled by brands and agencies, and lodging controlled by hosts and late-market pricing. The music started on schedule, but for a slice of creators and fans, the first contest was getting through the door with somewhere to sleep. (coachella.com; ktla.com; tmz.com)
