Anthropic targets small business, boosts code limits

Anthropic launched Claude for Small Business on May 13, saying the new package adds connectors and ready-made workflows inside software that smaller companies already use, including Intuit QuickBooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, DocuSign, Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. The company said the product is available as a toggle inside Claude Cowork and is designed to let users approve actions before anything is sent, posted or paid. Ramp published data the same day showing Anthropic had moved ahead of OpenAI in paid business adoption for the first time in its AI Index. Ara Kharazian, a lead economist at Ramp, wrote that Anthropic’s adoption rose to 34.4% of businesses in April while OpenAI’s fell to 32.3%. Anthropic had already widened access for coding users a week earlier. In a May 6 post, the company said it was doubling Claude Code’s five-hour rate limits for Pro, Max, Team and seat-based Enterprise plans and removing peak-hours limit reductions for Pro and Max accounts, tying the changes to added compute capacity from a SpaceX deal. (ramp.com) Anthropic said Claude for Small Business ships with 15 ready-to-run agentic workflows and 15 reusable skills across finance, operations, sales, marketing, human resources and customer service. The company said those workflows include payroll planning, month-end close work, invoice follow-up, sales campaigns and recurring business-insight reports. (anthropic.com) Daniela Amodei, Anthropic’s co-founder and president, said in the company announcement that the service is meant to handle “the work that piles up after hours,” while keeping a human approval step before money moves or messages go out. Anthropic said the package is included through existing Claude access and connected third-party tools. ### Why does the Ramp data matter to this launch? (anthropic.com) Ramp said May 13 marked the first time Anthropic had led its index of paid business adoption. Kharazian wrote that Anthropic’s business adoption had quadrupled over the past year, while OpenAI’s business adoption had grown by 0.3% over the same period. TechCrunch reported that Anthropic’s new package targets customers that are smaller than the large enterprise accounts that have dominated much of the heaviest AI deployment so far. Anthropic’s public posts available at the time of writing confirmed broader limit increases and compute expansion, but I could not independently verify that later 50% weekly promotional increase from an official Anthropic page. Anthropic said May 6 that it was also raising API rate limits for Claude Opus models and expanding capacity through agreements with Amazon, Google, Broadcom, Microsoft, Nvidia and Fluidstack.
