Freight Fraud Prevention Tool Launched
The National Motor Freight Traffic Association launched a Freight Fraud Prevention Hub to combat increasing freight fraud, including vendor account compromises.
The hub offers best practices and educational resources to help carriers, brokers, and shippers identify and prevent fraudulent activities. This includes guidance on recognizing red flags associated with vendor account compromises, a growing concern in the industry. The NMFTA's move comes as freight fraud incidents are on the rise, causing significant financial losses and disruptions to supply chains. Vendor account compromises, where fraudsters gain unauthorized access to legitimate accounts, are a particularly challenging aspect of this fraud. Education is a key component, with the hub providing materials to help industry stakeholders better understand and combat these evolving threats. By raising awareness and promoting best practices, the NMFTA aims to create a more secure environment for freight transactions.
