Huawei Cloud Launches Global Hybrid Platform

The global launch of Huawei Cloud Stack (HCF) is underpinned by the company's significant and vertically integrated semiconductor capabilities. Huawei's Ascend 910B AI chip, a 7nm processor developed by its HiSilicon subsidiary and manufactured by SMIC, is a key component of its cloud offerings. This chip provides around 600 TFLOPS of FP16 performance, positioning it as a competitor to some of NVIDIA's offerings while being designed and manufactured entirely within China's domestic supply chain. The latest version, Huawei Cloud Stack 8.3, brings over 100 cloud services to on-premises data centers, including a full AI production chain designed to lower the barrier for enterprises building their own large models. The platform integrates Huawei's Pangu large models, GaussDB database, and provides tools for mainframe modernization and creating converged data lakes. This focus on a comprehensive, on-premises AI solution directly addresses enterprise needs for data governance and security in hybrid deployments. The company has become a central player in China's drive for semiconductor self-sufficiency, influencing everything from chip design with its own EDA tools to advanced packaging, aiming to create alternatives to foreign-dominated chokepoints. This control over the entire stack allows for tight software-hardware co-design, which can improve training efficiency by as much as 45%. The move intensifies competition in a hybrid cloud market that is projected to reach nearly $330 billion by 2030. Enterprises are increasingly adopting hybrid models to balance the scalability of public clouds with the security and control of on-premises infrastructure, especially for AI workloads. Huawei Cloud Stack is designed for this reality, enabling workload portability and centralized management across diverse environments. Globally, Huawei Cloud now operates in 34 regions and serves customers in over 170 countries. The company is aggressively expanding its partner ecosystem, with plans to grow its network of distributors and cloud service providers to better serve international markets.
