New J.D. Robb Thriller Drops

The "In Death" series is penned by J.D. Robb, the pseudonym for prolific romance author Nora Roberts. Roberts adopted the pen name in 1995 to differentiate this futuristic police procedural series from her romance novels. The initials "J.D." were taken from her sons, Jason and Dan. The series began in 1995 with *Naked in Death* and is set in mid-21st century New York City. As of early 2026, the main series includes over 60 novels, in addition to numerous novellas. Roberts typically releases two new installments in the series each year. With over 225 novels to her name, Nora Roberts has more than 500 million copies of her books in print, including those published under the J.D. Robb pseudonym. She was the first author to be inducted into the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame. The series follows Lieutenant Eve Dallas of the New York City Police and Security Department (NYPSD) and her billionaire husband, Roarke. A recurring element is the dynamic between Eve's dedication to the law and Roarke's past as a skilled thief in his youth in Ireland. In *Stolen in Death*, the vault of stolen art was not originally owned by the murder victim, Nathan Barrister, but by his recently deceased father, Henry. The family had discovered the vault during a renovation and was in the process of figuring out how to anonymously return the valuable items before the murder occurred. One of the stolen items Roarke recognizes is a set of emerald and diamond jewelry he himself stole as a young man for a private broker. This personal connection to the case forces him to confront his past while assisting Eve's official investigation, which involves Interpol due to the international nature of the stolen art.
