Lotus Unveils Most Powerful Gas Car
Lotus has unveiled the Emira Bathurst Edition, the most powerful gasoline car the brand has ever produced. The limited-edition model was developed outside of Lotus headquarters and signals the company's commitment to performance as the industry shifts toward electrification. Aston Martin also launched the new Vantage S super sports car with enhanced aerodynamics and increased power output.
- The Emira Bathurst Edition was developed by Simply Sports Cars, the official Australian Lotus distributor, not the Lotus factory in the UK. It is named after the iconic Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, Australia. - Only 15 units of the Emira Bathurst Edition will be produced, priced at AU$249,990 (approximately US$176,600). - Its 503 horsepower is produced by a tuned version of the Mercedes-AMG-sourced 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, representing a 103-hp increase over the standard Emira SE. - The track-focused enhancements for the Bathurst Edition include three-way adjustable dampers, a lower ride height, a new carbon-fiber front splitter, and a large, fixed rear wing. - The release of this powerful gasoline model comes as Lotus has shifted its future strategy away from an all-electric lineup by 2028, now planning to incorporate "Super Hybrid" plug-in technology. - For comparison, the new Aston Martin Vantage S is powered by a hand-built 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 670 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. - The Aston Martin Vantage S achieves a 0-60 mph time of 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 202 mph.
