iOS 26.4 Beta 3 Released to Developers
Apple has seeded the third betas of iOS 26.4 and iPadOS 26.4 to developers. Early feedback highlights performance boosts, faster app launches, and smoother animations. The updates focus on stability and bug fixes as the OS matures ahead of its public release.
The latest build for iOS 26.4 Beta 3 is 23E5223f, which was released to developers on March 2, 2026, exactly one week after the second beta. This release is concurrent with new betas for iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS, though a corresponding beta for macOS Tahoe 26.4 was not immediately available. This beta cycle continues testing end-to-end encryption for RCS messaging between iPhone and Android devices. It also refines several features introduced in earlier iOS 26.4 betas, including an AI-powered "Playlist Playground" in Apple Music and a "Concerts Near You" section. The update for Apple Podcasts, which moves to HTTP Live Streaming for more reliable playback and dynamic ad insertion, is also part of this release cycle. For developers, iOS 26.4 introduces an opt-in for full Memory Integrity Enforcement to enhance app security. The SDK also includes updates to asset pack management with new APIs for offline status checks and forcing local availability of the latest versions. However, the highly anticipated overhaul of Siri, featuring deeper AI integration, has been delayed and is now expected in iOS 26.5 or iOS 27. While new emoji characters were anticipated, they currently appear as a question mark in a box, suggesting they may be fully enabled in a subsequent beta release. Stolen Device Protection, which adds a layer of security by requiring biometric authentication for sensitive actions, is now enabled by default for all users in this update cycle. Some developers have noted large update sizes, with one reporting an 11.87GB download for an iPhone 17 Pro.
