Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis Vegas Residency
Legendary R&B and hip-hop producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis announced their first-ever Las Vegas stage residency, "Nothing But Hits," beginning in April. The duo will perform their classic discography live for the first time, marking a historic event for fans of their influential work across both genres. The residency represents a rare opportunity to experience their production catalog in a live setting.
The "Nothing But Hits" residency will be held at Voltaire at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, with six performances scheduled for April 17, 18, 22, 24, 25, and 26. Special guests announced for the shows include Ruben Studdard and Shanice. This residency follows the duo's 2022 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Over their career, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis have amassed 41 Top 10 hits in the U.S., produced 16 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits, and have won five Grammy Awards. The producers’ journey began in Minneapolis as members of The Time, a band formed by Prince. They were famously fired by Prince after a blizzard in Atlanta caused them to miss a tour date; they were in the city producing for The S.O.S. Band, which violated Prince's rule against side projects. That dismissal launched one of music's most successful production careers, most notably their multi-decade collaboration with Janet Jackson. They first teamed up for her 1986 breakthrough album "Control," a project that helped establish her as an artist independent of her famous family and produced five Top 5 singles. Their extensive discography includes work with a vast range of artists such as George Michael, Usher, Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, and New Edition. The duo is known for pioneering the "Minneapolis sound," a blend of funk, R&B, synth-pop, and new wave that heavily influenced popular music. In a statement, Jimmy Jam said, "We've been fortunate to do so many incredible things in our careers, but we've never had the chance to perform our catalog live." Terry Lewis added that the show will be like "traveling through the soundtrack of your life," combining live music with the stories behind their iconic songs.
