AI Agent Domain System Launches on Solana
A new project called Molt.id has launched what it claims is the first AI agent domain system on the Solana blockchain. The system allows users to mint a permanent identity for an AI agent as an NFT, which they own forever.
- The system bundles a `.molt` domain, which is a Metaplex Core NFT on Solana, with a personal AI agent instance, an immutable wallet, and persistent data storage. - Minting a `.molt` identity costs a one-time fee of 0.4 SOL, designed to eliminate the need for servers, DevOps knowledge, or recurring monthly bills traditionally associated with running AI agents. - Each agent identity comes with an "immutable domain wallet," which is a permanent asset signer that does not have an exposed private key, requiring the owner to co-sign every transaction for enhanced security. - The agent's data, including its personality (soul.md), skills, and memory, is stored on Cloudflare R2 and is directly tied to the NFT, allowing for a transferable identity that accumulates value. - The underlying AI agent, called OpenClaw, can be integrated with messaging platforms like Telegram, Discord, and Slack, allowing it to operate where users already communicate. - Molt.id's architecture allows agents to trade tokens on Solana, launch new tokens, and offer or pay for services using an x402 payment system, enabling an autonomous "agent economy." - While Molt.id focuses on a bundled agent identity, other projects on Solana like Solana ID and SarosID are building broader decentralized identity solutions that aggregate on-chain and off-chain data for reputation and authentication. - The concept is part of a larger trend of "tokenizing intelligence," where AI models and autonomous agents are converted into ownable digital assets, with other standards like ERC-7857 emerging on Ethereum for "Intelligent NFTs" (iNFTs).
