All-Electric Apex AP-0 Supercar Debuts

The Apex AP-0, a new all-electric British-built supercar, has been unveiled with a focus on purist driving experience. The AP-0 features a 90kWh battery weighing just 550kg—about half of the car's overall 1,200kg weight—resulting in an exceptionally light and agile EV. The car represents ongoing innovation in the electric hypercar space alongside continued testing of the Lotus Evija during development stages.

- The AP-0 boasts a top speed of 190 mph and can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 2.3 seconds, powered by a 650 bhp electric motor. It has a projected range of up to 320 miles on a single charge. - Apex Motors was founded in 2018 by brothers Jason and Gary Leung. Before the all-electric AP-0, the company produced the AP-1, a limited-production gasoline-powered sports car. - A key technology feature is an augmented reality race instructor, which projects holographic driving guides onto the road to help drivers learn new racetracks. - The car is equipped with advanced LiDAR sensors, housed in a distinctive central fin, which generate detailed 3D maps of the car's surroundings to identify potential hazards. - Designed by Guy Colborne, the car's aesthetic was inspired by the concept of a "cyber dragon." The chassis is a carbon-fiber monocoque with a central spine for increased rigidity, a design feature visible in the car's bodywork. - Initially unveiled in March 2020 with a price of £150,000, production was slated to begin in the UK in late 2022. - In 2023, the company announced the involvement of musician Wyclef Jean, renamed the car the Attucks Apex AP-0, and revealed plans to move production to Miami.
