SF's Hunt & Gather Relocates Downtown
San Francisco business Hunt & Gather, which previously operated in the Sunset district, has secured a new lease downtown. The move ensures the local institution will continue to have a presence in the city after its recent departure from its former neighborhood.
After seven years on Irving Street, Hunt & Gather's departure from the Inner Sunset was prompted by a doubling of its rent. The business, a hub for local artists and makers, had become a popular stop on the Inner Sunset Art Walk, an event it also organizes. The new downtown location is within the food hall at 1355 Market St., situated below the former headquarters of X (previously Twitter). This move represents a significant expansion for the business, which owner DeeDee Hunt had been "manifesting." A grand opening celebration is scheduled for April 17th. Hunt & Gather is more than a gallery; it functions as a creative business incubator, offering coaching and strategy sessions for artists and creative entrepreneurs. Founded by DeeDee Hunt in March 2018, its mission is to uplift and connect local creatives. In its new, larger space, Hunt & Gather will continue to host its seasonal art exhibits and will add a non-alcoholic bar serving "botanical elixirs." The goal is to replicate the Inner Sunset model on a grander scale. While searching for a permanent home, the business has maintained a presence through pop-ups at the Outer Sunset Farmers Market and other local events.
