Patrick Mason Headlines Essential Mix

Berlin DJ Patrick Mason will deliver a two-hour Essential Mix airing tomorrow at midnight on BBC Radio 1 Dance. The set will showcase "a blend of cutting-edge house and techno" offering listeners "a fresh perspective on Berlin's club culture." BBC Radio 6 Music is also running its "Rave Forever" playlist featuring classic rave anthems and current club tracks.

- Patrick Mason is a multidisciplinary artist who works as a creative director and designer in addition to his music career; he moved to Berlin to study art, graphic design, and fashion. - Before DJing, Mason was a fixture on the dancefloors of Berlin's legendary Berghain nightclub, eventually graduating to performing in its Panorama Bar. - His musical style is heavily influenced by the Detroit Techno and New York House scenes, which he describes as "deep, dirty and fierce." - Mason is one half of the musical duo SRVD, a collaboration with veteran DJ and producer Matt Edwards, also known as Radio Slave. - In 2020, Mason was the first external creative designer given full control at Ray-Ban, where he reimagined their "State Street" frame, designed the packaging, and led the marketing campaign. - The Essential Mix is a prestigious weekly show that has been hosted by DJ Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1 since its inception on October 30, 1993. - With a broadcast run of over 30 years, the Essential Mix is one of the longest-running programs on BBC Radio 1.
