Greenworks Debuts Robotic Mower at Walmart
Greenworks is launching its next-gen AiMowbot robotic lawn mower at Walmart. The new device features wire-free perimeter mapping and intelligent navigation, bringing fully autonomous lawn care to the mass market through the retail giant.
The move into Walmart stores signifies a major push for robotic mowers into the mainstream consumer market, making the technology more accessible to a wider audience. Greenworks is making a significant retail play by offering a portfolio of its 60V cordless products in over 1,200 Walmart locations. The "wire-free" technology in the AiMowbot relies on a combination of high-precision GPS, often called RTK (Real-Time Kinematic), and AI-powered cameras. This allows the mower to create a virtual map of the lawn and navigate with centimeter-level accuracy, eliminating the need for homeowners to bury a physical boundary wire. The Greenworks AiMowbot C20 model, priced at $999.99, is designed for yards up to half an acre. It uses smart cameras and sensors to detect and avoid over 200 types of objects, can be controlled via a smartphone app to set no-go zones, and operates at a quiet 54 decibels. The global robotic lawn mower market was valued at over $800 million in 2022 and is projected to reach $2.4 billion by 2032. This growth is driven by a rising demand for automation in household chores and a shift away from traditional gas-powered mowers. The residential segment currently dominates the market. Greenworks enters a competitive field with established players like Husqvarna, Robert Bosch GmbH, and Deere & Company. Husqvarna, a market leader, is also focusing on wire-free AI navigation, planning to release 13 such models. Beyond navigation, the AiMowbot includes features like theft protection with GPS tracking and remote locking. It also has built-in sensors to avoid mowing in the rain, protecting the lawn from damage. The cutting height can be electronically adjusted through the app, offering users more control over their lawn's appearance.
