The retrospective, titled "Minami Tada - Light, Dignity, and Swaying," runs from August 29 to December 6. It's the first major retrospective of her work since her death in 2014. Tada Minami (1924–2014) was a pioneering figure in postwar Japanese art, working across sculpture, design, and architecture. She uniquely combined art, design and industrial technologies. Her work often incorporated industrial materials like stainless steel, glass, and acrylic resin. Tada explored how light interacts with form and space, creating effects that shift with the viewer's movement. Tada created around 200 sculptures and 500 architectural works, including lighting for the Imperial Palace and Imperial Hotel Tokyo. Her pieces can be found in urban spaces like parks, train stations, and city halls.
