Adidas drops retro track top collection

Adidas just released the Classic Track Top with high collar and bold color combos for throwback appeal — available now in multiple colorways. The drop is getting praise for its authentic vintage vibes and clean streetwear aesthetic.

The newly released Classic Track Top is part of the Adicolor collection, a line that frequently draws from Adidas' extensive archives. This collection is known for taking cues from 70s and 80s streetwear, refreshing vintage designs with a modern twist. The Adicolor line often features the iconic Trefoil logo, which was first introduced in 1972. This retro-inspired track top is constructed from a piqué fabric, a blend of 52% cotton and 48% recycled polyester. It features a slim fit and a full zipper that extends up to a high stand-up collar, a signature element of classic track jackets. The design is a nod to the original track tops from the 1970s and 1980s, which were popular among football teams sponsored by the brand. Adidas' first piece of apparel was a tracksuit released in 1967, named after German soccer star Franz Beckenbauer. This initial design, with its three stripes down the arms and legs, quickly moved from athletic wear to a cultural staple. The Beckenbauer suit's innovative fabrics and distinct branding set the stage for decades of streetwear dominance. Throughout the 1970s and 80s, the Adidas tracksuit was embraced by various subcultures. It became a uniform for B-boys and hip-hop pioneers in New York City, who favored the vibrant colors and breathable fabric for breakdancing. Famously, the rap group Run-DMC helped solidify the tracksuit's place in hip-hop culture, even dedicating the song "My Adidas" to the brand in 1986. The current streetwear landscape is heavily influenced by nostalgia, with a resurgence of Y2K and 90s aesthetics. Sportswear continues to be integrated into everyday fashion, with an emphasis on relaxed fits and bold, statement-making pieces. This new collection of track tops, with its vintage appeal and bright color options, aligns with these prevailing trends. Available colorways for the Classic Track Top include black, blue and white, and brown with off-white accents. The price for these retro-styled tops ranges from approximately $64 to $80.
