Medvedev Dominates Wawrinka 6-2, 6-3

Daniil Medvedev covered the -4.5 games spread with a commanding 6-2, 6-3 victory over Stan Wawrinka, highlighting strong ATP performances. At WTA Austin, live matches featured Tomljanovic leading Jovic 2-1 with upcoming clashes including Masarova vs. Townsend and Stearns vs. Selekhmeteva. Frances Tiafoe and Peyton Stearns also delivered strong covering performances in recent matches.

This victory extended Daniil Medvedev's head-to-head lead over Stan Wawrinka to 3-2. All of their previous five encounters had been closely contested, with each match going to a deciding set. The match marked an emotional farewell for Stan Wawrinka, who was playing in his final Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. The 40-year-old, three-time Grand Slam champion has announced that 2026 will be his final year on the ATP Tour. For Wawrinka, the loss continued his search for a first main tour quarterfinal since the ATP Stockholm event in 2024. Despite competitive performances throughout the early months of 2026, he has been unable to secure a win against a top-20 player since that same tournament. Following the win, Medvedev continued his dominant run in Dubai by defeating Jenson Brooksby 6-2, 6-1 in a quarterfinal match that lasted only 57 minutes. The World No. 11 did not face a single break point and advanced to his second semifinal of the year.
