Iberia is expanding its Madrid–Latin America schedule for summer 2026, putting its biggest-ever seasonal program on sale for the region. (iberia.com) The airline said on February 12 it will offer 3,354,159 seats between Europe and Latin America during the summer season, up 7.6% from the previous summer, with as many as 366 weekly flights. Iberia’s broader summer schedule starts on March 29, 2026. (iberia.com 1) (iberia.com 2) The biggest route increase is in Argentina: Buenos Aires will rise to 23 weekly flights in June, July and August from 21, and Iberia said that will make it the carrier’s first long-haul destination with more than three daily flights. Iberia plans 456,000 seats on the Buenos Aires route this summer, 12% more than a year earlier. (iberia.com) Mexico is getting a new link as well. Iberia said it will start direct Madrid–Monterrey service on June 2, 2026, with three weekly flights, adding 36,288 seats over the summer season. (iberia.com) (iberiaclubmagazine.iberia.com) Brazil is another focus. Iberia said Recife and Fortaleza, added recently to its network, plus more Rio de Janeiro flying will lift Brazil capacity to nearly 400,000 seats this summer, 15% above the previous season. (iberia.com) The expansion extends beyond the largest markets. Iberia said the Dominican Republic will have 10 to 11 weekly flights this summer versus 7 to 8 in 2025, Puerto Rico will move to 10 to 12 weekly flights from 7 to 9, and Santiago de Chile will offer nearly 240,000 seats after service rose to 12 weekly flights. (iberia.com) Iberia has been building toward this for two years. The airline offered more than 3.1 million summer seats to 18 Latin American destinations in 2024, then said it would surpass 5.5 million seats across the full year 2025 with more than 350 weekly flights on the corridor. (iberiaclubmagazine.iberia.com) (ala.aero) The 2026 push is tied to Iberia’s Flight Plan 2030 and a larger fleet. In its March 23 summer-network update, the airline said the plan is being supported by new long-haul aircraft, including six Airbus A321XLR jets and one Airbus A350-900. (iberia.com) Latin America remains central to Iberia’s network from Madrid, and the airline is using summer 2026 to add frequencies on established routes while opening Monterrey as a new point in Mexico. The result is a denser map across the Atlantic just as the peak travel months begin. (iberia.com 1) (iberia.com 2)
