Paris Baguette Opens New Texas Cafe
Bakery café chain Paris Baguette is continuing its U.S. expansion, opening a new location in Richardson, Texas on February 27. The brand, which has over 4,000 locations worldwide, is rapidly growing its footprint in the Dallas area and across the country.
The rapid U.S. expansion of Paris Baguette is part of a plan to reach 1,000 locations in the country by 2030. The company's growth has been significant, with 77 new cafes opened in 2025 and plans for 150 more in 2026. This aggressive growth strategy is predominantly franchise-led, with 530 units already in development. To support this expansion, Paris Baguette's parent company, SPC Group, is investing $160 million in a new 260,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Burleson, Texas. This will be the company's first production plant in North America and is expected to create 450 jobs, making it one of the top five employers in the area. The facility is slated to begin production in 2027. The South Korean-based SPC Group has a long history in the food industry, starting as a small confectionery named Sangmidang in 1945. The group launched in 2004 and has since grown into a global entity with over 4,000 locations worldwide. The U.S. expansion is a key focus, with the company achieving 19 consecutive quarters of positive same-store sales. The bakery café market in the United States is a significant and growing sector. In 2022, retail sales of baked goods reached $82.9 billion and are projected to grow to $97.7 billion by 2026. Paris Baguette is capitalizing on this trend, having been ranked the #1 bakery cafe franchise by Entrepreneur magazine in 2026. A key competitor for Paris Baguette in the U.S. is another South Korean chain, Tous Les Jours. Both brands offer a French-inspired Asian bakery experience and have ambitious growth plans, each aiming for 1,000 stores in North America by 2030. While Paris Baguette has a broader menu, Tous Les Jours often incorporates more distinct Korean flavors like kimchi and red bean paste. The North American operations are led by CEO Darren Tipton, who has overseen a brand revamp since 2020. This refresh included an updated cafe design and a wider variety of freshly baked goods, contributing to a 31% sales growth in 2024. The Dallas-Fort Worth area, where the new Richardson location has opened, is a growing market for bakery and cafe concepts. The new manufacturing plant in Burleson, part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, will serve as a strategic hub for supplying the growing number of Paris Baguette cafes across North America. In 2025, Paris Baguette's U.S. catering revenue saw a 30% increase from the previous year, with New York City leading the sales. The company officially entered the U.S. catering market in 2020 and has since expanded these services to all its North American locations.
