Delhi Metro Expands Pink Line

Delhi Metro's new Pink Line stretch is operational, making Delhi the first Indian city to operate an orbital metro system, improving commutes and leisure activities.

The Pink Line's completion creates India's first orbital metro, a 73.49-kilometer loop with 46 stations. This allows for seamless travel across North, East, South, and West Delhi with fewer interchanges. Areas like Burari, Sonia Vihar, and Bhajanpura now have metro access for the first time, benefiting students, professionals, and daily wage workers. The expansion is expected to reduce traffic congestion and vehicular emissions. The Pink Line has key interchange stations at Azadpur (Yellow Line), Netaji Subhash Place (Red Line), and Rajouri Garden (Blue Line). The current extension also provides a transfer between three lines of the Delhi Metro network: the Yellow Line (at Badli), the Red Line (at Madhuban Chowk) and the Pink Line (at Majlis Park). Property values near Pink Line stations are expected to rise, particularly in areas like Sarojini Nagar. Real estate within a kilometer radius of metro stations in Delhi has seen appreciation of 20-50%. The Pink Line features a double-decker viaduct between Bhajanpura and Yamuna Vihar, with the metro on the upper deck and road traffic below. It also includes a bridge over the Yamuna River connecting North and Northeast Delhi.
