David Finlay Joins AEW Roster
David Finlay made his AEW Dynamite debut in El Paso, with the War Dogs faction also getting rebranded during the show. The signing comes amid rumors of WWE interest in the former NJPW star. Finlay's arrival is expected to inject fresh rivalries and storylines into AEW's roster.
David Finlay is a fourth-generation wrestler, with a lineage that includes his father, Fit Finlay, his grandfather, and both of his great-grandfathers. His brother, Brogan Finlay, is also a professional wrestler, currently performing in WWE as Uriah Connors. He became the fifth leader of the Bullet Club in March 2023, taking the reins from Jay White. Finlay's leadership marked a shift in the group's philosophy, aiming to return it to its more ruthless and disruptive roots. To achieve this, he formed the "War Dogs" sub-group. The War Dogs who debuted alongside Finlay in AEW are Clark Connors and Gabe Kidd. Connors, known as the "Wild Rhino," is a graduate of the NJPW LA Dojo and a two-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion. English wrestler Gabe Kidd, known as "The Madman," is a former STRONG Openweight Champion and IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion. The Bullet Club was originally formed in 2013 by Prince Devitt (now Finn Bálor in WWE), Karl Anderson, Bad Luck Fale, and Tama Tonga. The faction's influence has been widespread, with offshoots and members appearing in promotions globally, including the AEW-based Bullet Club Gold, led by former leader Jay White. Finlay's tenure as leader in New Japan Pro-Wrestling was notable for his singles success, becoming the inaugural IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion. He also held the NEVER Openweight Championship and won the 2025 New Japan Cup. The arrival of Finlay's War Dogs in AEW sets up a potential conflict with the established Bullet Club Gold. This is particularly notable as Bullet Club Gold member Juice Robinson was once Finlay's tag team partner in a duo called FinJuice.
