Gott's Roadside Opens First LA Location

Gott's Roadside, the popular Northern California burger chain, has opened its first location in Los Angeles at The Grove. The expansion brings the brand's signature burgers and roadside-diner fare to the competitive Southern California dining market.

Before it was Gott's, the brand began in 1999 when brothers Joel and Duncan Gott took over Taylor's Refresher, a beloved local roadside stand in St. Helena dating back to 1949. The name was officially changed to Gott's Roadside in 2010 after a trademark dispute with the original owner's family. The concept was born in the heart of Napa's fine-dining scene, intended as a casual alternative serving high-quality versions of American roadside classics. This commitment to quality using locally sourced ingredients earned the original location a prestigious James Beard Foundation Award as an "America's Classic" in 2006. While known for its burgers, Gott's menu extends to California-influenced fare like Ahi Poke Crispy Tacos made with sushi-grade tuna. The beverage menu also reflects its wine country origins, featuring a California-centric list of wines and beers hand-selected by co-founder Joel Gott. The brand has expanded to nine locations, primarily in Northern California, including spots in San Francisco's Ferry Building and Napa's Oxbow Public Market. The new location at The Grove is its first in Southern California, with a second planned for Santa Monica. A unique feature of the new Los Angeles restaurant at the Original Farmers Market is a dedicated soft-serve window, a first for the company. This allows guests to walk up for Strauss organic soft-serve ice cream with various toppings and dips.
