Explora Journeys is the luxury cruise line of the MSC Group, founded in 2021 to redefine ocean travel. The brand aims to offer immersive voyages that blend celebrated destinations with lesser-known ports. The cruise line's philosophy, known as the "Ocean State of Mind," focuses on connecting guests with the sea and with each other. The company's first ship, Explora I, began sailing in August 2023. As of September 2024, Explora II has also joined the fleet. The cruise line has plans to expand its fleet with four additional ships to be introduced between 2026 and 2028. Explora III, to be delivered in July 2026, will be the first of the fleet to utilize LNG-powered capabilities. Explora V will be built to allow for a potential future retrofit, while Explora VI will be delivered with a fuel cell onboard. All Explora ships are equipped with shore power connectivity, allowing engines to be switched off while in port. The brand's six-ship fleet represents a €3.5 billion investment by the MSC Group. The cruise line is focused on sustainability, incorporating state-of-the-art technology and eco-friendly practices. The Mediterranean cruise market is expected to welcome close to six million passengers in 2026.
