Safety and Pharma Firms Announce API Integration

Safety management system provider HSI Donesafe and Neopharma Technologies have announced a new API integration. The partnership aims to connect core safety platforms with drug and alcohol testing programs to create unified 'Fit-For-Duty' workflows, addressing a common disconnect in workplace safety management.

- The integration will embed Neopharma's NEOVAULT® platform and its DRUID® assessment tool directly into the Donesafe system. DRUID® is a one-minute test that measures cognitive and psychomotor performance against a user's own baseline to detect functional impairment from fatigue, illness, or stress without diagnosing the cause. - HSI Donesafe provides the core safety management platform for this integration and is used by over 22,000 organizations and 3 million users across 71 countries. The company was acquired by the Health & Safety Institute (HSI) in February 2020 to expand HSI's portfolio of EHS and compliance solutions. - This partnership targets a disconnect in a growing market; the global Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) software market is valued at USD 7.5 billion, driven by regulatory requirements and the need to automate risk management. The more specific Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) software market is projected to grow to USD 1.35 billion by 2035. - The API integration is designed to create a single, auditable workflow, strengthening audit trails and due diligence for company officers. This is critical under regulations like Australia's WHS laws, which can place personal liability on executives for safety failures. - Neopharma Technologies, an Australian public company, has developed an AI-powered image analysis technology called AI VISION, which can read data from curved surfaces and various test types with over 97% accuracy. - This type of integration reflects a broader trend in HR technology of moving away from siloed point solutions. Only 29% of HR tech users report that their systems integrate well, driving demand for unified platforms that reduce manual data entry and the "toggling tax" of switching between applications. - From a go-to-market perspective, this partnership exemplifies a "buy vs. build" strategy, where a major platform (HSI Donesafe) uses an API to incorporate a specialized capability (Neopharma's impairment testing) to expand its offering and address a specific customer pain point. This allows them to enter a new solution area without internal development. - The use of an API to connect disparate HR and safety systems is a key enabler for creating a more holistic Employee Experience Platform (EXP). Analysts predict that by 2025, 74% of organizations will have implemented an EXP to improve productivity and engagement
