Huawei Unveils AI Solutions at MWC
At MWC Barcelona, Huawei unveiled its Industry AI Foundry and a next-gen hybrid cloud offering. The company also released a new report on smart factory architecture, signaling a major push to use AI to solve industrial challenges and boost digital productivity.
The "Industry AI Foundry" is Huawei's strategic plan to move artificial intelligence from focusing on sheer computing power to achieving tangible gains in efficiency. The initiative provides a comprehensive suite of offerings, including AI infrastructure, industry-specific models, and an agent platform, with the first project being the launch of a smart medical zone in China. Underpinning this industrial push are Huawei's Pangu large models, which are already being applied in over 30 industries through 400 different use cases. For example, the Pangu model for high-speed rail can inspect 32,000 different items on a train and check for over 350 complex fault conditions, significantly improving operational efficiency. Another Pangu model for telecommunications can automatically troubleshoot 90% of network faults within minutes. To support developers, Huawei also showcased CodeArts, an AI-powered coding assistant. The tool is designed to integrate with multiple development environments and is powered by Huawei's proprietary models, which have been trained on hundreds of billions of lines of code. The company's new report on "Fully Connected Industrial Networks" identifies four major trends for smart factories: ubiquitous access, converged connectivity, autonomous networks, and integrated network security. This report is based on Huawei's experience serving more than 27,000 manufacturing and large enterprise customers globally. The next-generation hybrid cloud offering, known as Huawei Cloud Foundation (HCF), is designed to provide a robust platform for these AI applications. Huawei's strategy is to transition from "cloud-native to AI-native," integrating artificial intelligence across its entire portfolio of cloud services. During the MWC event, Huawei executives emphasized this strategic shift. "AI will reshape almost everything. At Huawei Cloud, AI is a key strategy," stated Jacqueline Shi, President of Huawei Cloud Global Marketing and Sales Service. Bruno Zhang, the CTO of Huawei Cloud, added that the company is committed to "accelerating intelligence across industries with systematic innovation." This focus on AI and cloud is part of a broader push into 5G-Advanced (5G-A) technology. Li Peng, Huawei's President of ICT Sales & Service, predicted at MWC that the combination of 5G-A and AI will drive double-digit growth in both data usage and average revenue per user for mobile subscribers. The company is also preparing for the 6G era, with its latest products designed for a smooth evolution to the next generation of connectivity.
