Arbitrum Launches Mentorship Program for Startups
The Arbitrum Foundation has launched a mentorship program for early-stage teams building on its network. The program offers guidance on infrastructure, introductions to investors, and awards of up to $100,000. Applications for the initiative are open until April.
- This mentorship program is part of a broader strategy by the Arbitrum Foundation to foster ecosystem growth, which includes various grant programs such as the $1M Trailblazer AI Grant Program. This initiative also runs alongside Arbitrum Gaming Ventures, a 200 million ARB fund dedicated to accelerating gaming on the network. - The program will connect startups with established Arbitrum-native projects like Pendle and GMX for mentorship, and with venture capital firms including Pantera Capital and Electric Capital for potential investment. This model provides direct access to both market leaders and investors. - Offchain Labs, the core developer of Arbitrum, also operates Tandem, a venture capital and partner studio that invests in and collaborates with early-stage projects. Tandem has backed key ecosystem players like the decentralized exchange Camelot. - This initiative is designed for early-stage teams at the MVP, pre-seed, or seed stages, requiring them to either be building on or commit to building on Arbitrum. The eight-week, equity-free program will culminate in a Demo Day for participants to present to investors. - In comparison, the Base ecosystem, supported by Coinbase, offers funding through its Base Ecosystem Fund, which has backed projects like the derivatives protocol Avantis and the on-chain content platform Paragraph. Base also runs "Base Batches," an incubator-style program that includes a grant and the chance to pitch to investors like Coinbase Ventures. - The Solana ecosystem offers similar support through the Solana Foundation, which provides milestone-based grants for projects that benefit the network. Additionally, Solana Labs runs a hands-on incubator program in New York for a small number of startups, with successful alumni including Marinade and Sanctum.
