Battle Beast Debuts New Singer

Swedish metal act Battle Beast performed live for the first time with new lead singer Marina La Torraca at Tokyo's WWWX venue on March 6. La Torraca replaces longtime vocalist Noora Louhimo in a significant lineup change. Early fan footage and reviews show La Torraca fitting smoothly into the band, signaling a fresh chapter for the metal group.

Noora Louhimo's departure after a 13-year tenure was announced in December 2025. She cited the band's demanding schedule and a desire to pursue her solo career and other creative projects as key reasons for leaving. Louhimo described the decision as a "long process," influenced by health issues, including a ruptured artery and a car accident, which caused her to re-evaluate her life priorities. The band's constant cycle of recording and touring left no time for her to express herself artistically outside of the group. New vocalist Marina La Torraca is a Brazilian singer known for fronting the modern metal band Phantom Elite and the symphonic metal project Exit Eden. She also has a background in musical theatre, having studied in New York and performed in European stage productions. This is not Battle Beast's first vocalist change. The band was originally fronted by Nitte Valo when they formed in 2008 and won the Wacken Metal Battle in 2010. Louhimo joined in 2012, replacing Valo, and went on to record six albums with the band. The news of Louhimo's exit came as an "absolute shock" to the rest of the band, according to founding bassist Eero Sipilä. The band tried to convince her to stay for the already-booked 2026 shows, but a mutual separation was ultimately announced. Louhimo is now fully focused on her solo career, having released a debut solo album in 2021 under the name Noora Louhimo Experience but having been unable to pursue it further. She has stated she intends to explore different genres while also being open to guest appearances in future heavy metal projects. La Torraca acknowledged the challenge of following a "vocal legend," but expressed excitement about the new chapter. The current tour is the first run of shows for the revitalized lineup, beginning a new era for the Finnish power metal act.
